As a proud mom, law enforcement veteran specializing in school safety, and a newly appointed member of the Academy District 20 Board of Education, I am committed to ensuring the safety and success of our students and educators in Colorado Springs, home to Olympic City USA, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and four military bases.
I’m running for the school board because this district has been a cornerstone of my family’s life. I grew up in this community, raised my children here, and now I want to protect and strengthen District 20 for future generations.
There are so many District 20 accomplishments to be proud of. For more than 15 years, our district has been Accredited with Distinction, Colorado’s highest rating, placing us among an elite group of districts statewide. In 2023 alone, fifteen of our schools were named John Irwin Schools of Excellence for sustained academic achievement, while seven schools received the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award for exceptional student growth. Our teachers, coaches, and principals are regularly recognized at the state and national level, including “Best of the Springs” honors from the Colorado Springs Gazette and the 2024 Colorado Elementary Distinguished Principal of the Year award.
These achievements remind us that excellence is no accident, it comes from dedicated educators, engaged families, and students who rise to meet high expectations. Whether in academics, athletics, the arts, or JROTC, District 20 students consistently lead the way, earning millions in scholarships and bringing home championships and top honors year after year.
This district has always aimed high, and I want to help ensure we continue that path of excellence. I believe in public education, in community-driven decision-making, and in giving every student the opportunity to thrive. District 20 is already exceptional, and together, we can make it even stronger.
At the heart of this commitment is the belief that school safety comes first. Teachers should be able to teach knowing they are safe in their classrooms. Parents should be able to send their children to school with confidence. Whether in the classroom, at a camp, or on the field, safety must always be a priority.
I’ve dedicated my life to protecting children. I’ve sat with countless families and school leaders, reflecting on lessons learned and how to best prevent tragedies in the future. As a member of the Board of Education, I will not wait for issues to arise—I will be proactive, anticipating challenges and ensuring our schools are ready to address them. My experience and commitment to protecting children will guide my work on the board and prepare our students for the future.
Together, we will create an environment where students and teachers feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve at their highest potential.
